Acne and Your Liver

So, here’s something kind of interesting.

Apparently, your liver has a lot to do with the reason you get acne. I know, it sounds pretty random, but let me explain.

One of the main causes of acne is hormones. When there is a hormonal imbalance going on in your system, acne rears its ugly head. What is usually responsible for this hormonal imbalance? Well, it’s the liver.

The liver is responsible for cleaning out the unnecessary hormones in your system so your hormonal rate never gets too high. Yet, on top of that job, the liver also has to deal with other things entering your system, like exhaust fumes, alcohol, pesticides, smoke and other somewhat harmful toxins. All of these extra little burdens tend to weigh the liver down and stress it out, consequently distracting it from deactivating the excess hormones in your system. This can lead to a hormonal imbalance which can then lead to, unfortunately, a nasty acne breakout.

But, have no fear! There are, of course, ways to combat this liver mishap.

Firstly, you should try to cut out or, at least, cut down on things like red meat, salt, alcohol, soft drinks, processed foods and caffeine. These things are harmful to (and can weigh down)’ your liver.

Instead, you should try and eat as many raw fruits and vegetables as you possibly can. These are excellent for your liver and help to cleanse it of unnecessary toxins that lead to the imbalance of hormones. Also, you should try and eat fish at least two times a week as a source of lean protein.

Another good thing to eat would be soy beans. Soy beans contain lecithin, which helps the liver break down fats and reduce high cholesterol levels.

Basically, as you’ve probably already gathered from the above dietary suggestions, you should try to eat as healthily as possible. This will help cleanse your liver which, in part, will give it more room and energy to focus on balancing your hormones.

You should try it out. Your skin will thank you.
